Serbian born baritone Marko Kalajanović studied Music at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, together with acting and stage movement. Continuing his studies in Europe he received numerous awards in Serbia and won a Prize in the ‘’Ondina Otta’’ singing competition in Slovenia. He has participated in masterclasses ’’Autumn Academy of CEE Musiktheater’’, ’’14. Steglitzer Tage fur Alte Musik’’, ’’1 Masterclass Oper 2005 Berlin-Montenegro’’; being constantly coached by Diva Assolutta Radmila Bakočević. He also worked with Enza Ferrari, Marko Letonja, David Crechenzi, Francesco Rosa, David T. Heusel, Marco Boemi, Simon Robinson, Bruno Nicoli, Gianni Fabrini and lately working with maestro Paolo de Napoli.
Opera Roles include Marcello (La Boheme, Puccini), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore, G.Donizetti), Renato (Un ballo in maschera, G.Verdi), Ezio (Attila, G.Verdi), Germont (La Traviata, G.Verdi), Michonet (Adriana Lecouvreur, F.Cilea), Escamillo (Carmen, G.Bizet), Biscroma (Viva la mamma, G.Donizetti), Jež (Ježeva kuća, Z.Vauda).
Marko was specially acclaimed for his performance creating the role of Paul in the premiere of Philip Glass’s opera Les enfants terribles in Belgrade. Critics and audience found his voice, artistic talent, charisma and passion remarkable.
Other notable performances include Marcello in La Boheme at the Slovenian National Theater in Maribor and Croatian National Theater in Zagreb, Renato in Un ballo in maschera at the National Theater in Belgrade and National Theater in Sarajevo, Ezio in Attila at the National Theater in Belgrade, Germont in La Traviata at the National Theater in Sarajevo, Michonet in Adriana Lecouvreur at the National Theater in Belgrade, Escamillo in Carmen at the National Theater in Sarajevo, Biscroma in Viva la mamma at the Serbian National Theater in Novi Sad, Jež in Ježeva kuća at the National Theater in Sarajevo.
He has extensive experience in performing orthodox sacral music, as well as numerous recitals of classical music, gala concerts and special events.
Marko’s most recent and future engagement include Belcore in Donizetti’s L’esire d’amore with the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb conducted by Pietro Rizzo and directed by Cesare Lievi, as well as title role in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin with the National Theater in Sarajevo.
